Not entirely sure I'll read it SOON, but perhaps eventually (I can't even think about how many books I have that I claim "are the start of my future library," as I often say in defense of all the non-read books that currently reside in my room).

Anyway, found out about this little book at indiebound.org as I was doing research for [publishing] networking websites and whatnot. Only a wee bit distracted...

A Fondly Remembered DPI Experience

Dad gave showed me a magazine on lines and I found this beauty within. Plus some other incredible images, but this one was my favorite.



I'm also really into this eerie fog look and dad says he has some good filters to put on the camera he's letting me use (when I finish with the Pop Cam).

Diane Arbus's "Disneyland." Looked extensively into her (and Robert Frank, etc.) in the Beat Literature class. I adore this fog look.

"Flower Girl" by Arbus. Again, foggy awesomeness, 19th century-esque. Ahhh.

Mon Amour

Ah yes, again. But, but, but. For just reason! See, every time, and I mean EVERY time, I read Howl, I find myself rocking back and forth to the beat of the poem. I think this happens with Beat poetry in general, but MOST prominently with Howl. Every. Time. And in this video, at the end, a woman is shown rocking and I just love that. Even though a lot of people did that when people read Beat poetry, it just made me smile. It's such an intense poem, yet so gentle. What talent.

And I don't think it's pretentious at all. They were doing something that no one else was. Their girlfriends and friends were showing such compassion by being understanding and tolerant of these people. SOMEONE had to be or else they would have been even more lost than they already were, and most people don't deserve to be treated as a lost cause.
Yeah, it's hard to follow, but I admire them. I admire Joyce Johnson for being as patient as she was. I admire all the women who tried to help these men. And the men who tried to help these men. The patience it must have taken, jeez. I remember just melting while reading Minor Characters and Door Wide Open. Minor Characters, especially, was so dead-on with my mentality at the time. And at the time, it was what I needed. And I learned from it, which is all I can ask for.

James: Franco and Dean

James Franco as James Dean in "James Dean," a very cool movie. Very cool. James Franco does a STELLAR job; mostly, he's just a wonnnnderful actor, really. He can just emulate anything. And he's genuine about it. And this little green vest he's got on here, holy jibbers. Love.

Also, Howl (with James Franco as Allen Ginsberg) comes out September 24th, 2010. HAPPY BURTSDAY TO ME. YESSSS. SO excited. Sasdklajdlksa.

Ah James Franco, I've loved you a very long time. You are my sunshine. I can't wait to see you again.

Big Sur

From Lauren Upp and my's visit to California. This is the day Dani, Lauren, and I drove to Big Sur and stopped at a few places, this being the last. And probably the best. We found this little walkway, a painter man (whom I took a fisheye photo of; he was very nice), and this little staircase get-up which is the last 2 seconds of the video. That little staircase took us to "our" spot, with a little ledge to sit on and a spectacular view.

Lauren Upp prances at one point and that's the general feeling of this day.

Finishing the Withering

Almost done with Wuthering Heights. It's only been a year. But it's painful at some points. I feel inadequate because it's such a literary gem, but even Dr. Incorvati was all, "we could have read that for Madness and the Mind, but, I just thought Jane Eyre was...Wuthering Heights is...*insert modestly-resentful-of-the-book-face.*" So I THINK I'm allowed to not love it. But it's interesting, I will say that. And I think one day I'll re-read it and see what I can make of it then.

On an even wackier note:



I love this lady. Allison Harvard, ANTM, season 12 runner-up. Obviously she kicked arse all the way through. And this is THE single most overt example that Tyra is mad. Absolutely bonkers. Pish. Allison is also an awesome artist and a hilarious gal. Ah, j'adore.

Summer

Watching 500 Days of Summer (been watching movies all day while unpacking, doing laundry, etc.) and YouTube'd Miss Deschanel (or Gibbard, little cuties) and came across an old interview:



She couldn't be more jittery, hahaha. How cute. She's definitely changed over the years, though; she's calmer, more "ok, this is my life, I'll own it" and such. I adore her either way. Celeb gals like her and Dakota Fanning thrill me to no end.


This week brings boyz, boyz, boyz. And ladies. All them "single" ladies, wink ha. Cleveland and Columbus; 'twill be lovely.
