Despicable Me

Agnes from Despicable Me at her finest.
This could be paralleled to my reaction to Christian in Moulin Rouge! when he "hides" in the corner (i.e. covers his face with his hands) when The Duke is in The Elephant and Satine is trying to hide Christian: I laugh, HARD, EVERY time.

Bahahaha.

Who gives this up?

I have mad respect for Natalie Portman but, but, BUT, NATALIE--sheesh. Old news, but, watching some videos of Devendra and, puhhh.

In other news, birthday was fine and dandy. 24 on 24.
I'ma make some $$s and go places. iMiss: CO, SF/Monterey, NM, and would very much dig a trip to LA in early 2011.

Oh, and Scotland. No big.

Outrageous

Tonight on ANTM, Andre Leon Talley compared Ann to Penelope Tree. I find myself loving him more and more, and his comparisons are generally very interesting and enlightening.

Anyway, I rather think, and can't get out of my mind, that Ann is quite similar to Allison of cycle 12. But, I think I agree with Mr. Talley on this.

This is a picture Diane Arbus took of Penelope Tree at age 13. Arbus was actually the one to find her, but Tree's dad (who was very wealthy) said that if Arbus published the pictures of Penelope, he would have Arbus sued because he and his wife didn't approve of Penelope being a model. So, Penelope went on to do more modeling, being quite successful, but then she had a late spell of acne which left scars and then no one wanted her. Psh. OUTRAGEOUS. Make-up, anyone? Or find something to do WITH it? I'm not a professional, but I have a heart. And yes, it can very well be argued that people in the modeling world don't have a heart, but some do, and those people should have found something creative about it. I hate to say it, but I can totally see Tyra doing something like that. Because that would be typical Tyra. Oh, you crazy, crazy woman.
Presently, Penelope Tree works for an organization that helps out girls from the poorest of families have a chance to go to school. Very cool and good for her.

She was very known for her VERY long legs:

And a few I was quite fond of:

I'm not head over heals for modeling, but I do appreciate it when it's done "right," or rather, done in an very unique, interesting way.

A few

of my (new) favorite things:

Nikon wide lens. I was looking at wide angle lenses and voila! Dad produced this little lovely.

Argus C3. Mass produced from 1939-1966. Produces, I believe, Lomo-esque pictures in that they seem to be vivid in color, but better quality than Lomo, what with the focus and all.

And last but certainly not not NOT least...

I FINALLY FOUND BOOTS!! I had been eyeing them for a while, but didn't think they were what I really wanted. But then I tried them on, and da da da DA! Deena and Ozzy brown boots from UO.

My baby panther

She sometimes sleeps like this, notice her little crossed paws over her nose.

My angel and meeeee.

Holding hands. One time I woke up and she actually had her paw in my hand. I hadn't put it there, she just did it.

Love at its finest.

Too bitty

"I'm always changing my mind, well I guess I am...I'm a goddamn hypocrite" -my man Conor Oberst.

What I mean to say is that I seem to change my mind once and a while, as much as I don't like to admit it.

Example, Top Model.

Sure Tyra's wack, but some of these gals on the cycles are fantastic.

Run through for cycle 15:

Anamaria: "you bitty" -one of the girls to her. She was too skinny and most likely has a little eating problem, and they sent her home tonight on ep. 2. She was also too full of herself and set in her ways. So long to her.
Ann: the Allison of this cycle, but I can't help but love and root for her. She's also 6'2".
Chelsey: nothing about her has grabbed me yet, but I don't hate her, either.
Chris: one of two sisters on the show this season (Terra is her older sister). She's cute and funny and a stronger model than her sister.
Esther: one of my favorites, and the lady has G size tatas. G. I'm with Tyra in not understanding how she carries her Gs better than Tyra and I carry our DDs. And for that, I love her. And she's not in your face about it, either.
Jane: I liked her for a split second, but then she got sassy or run-of-the-mill or something and now I'm over her.
Kacey: has tried out before and again, I don't like her. Seems drama-filled and annoying. Also, one of the Js said that she's not that "attractive" without her glasses. But she DID hold her own when she wasn't wearing them on the catwalk. But, contacts? No? Hmm...
Kayla: at first, no, no, no. But, then she grew on me and I love her with straight hair. She's the little ANTM lezzie and good for her. Go, girl.
Kendal: is pretty but nothing has grabbed me yet.
Lexie: I read this on someone else's blog and thank you, person: "she looks like Haylie Duff." And that's all I can ever think when I see her. I hope she goes home next; she bugs me. And she's 18 and thinks she knows the world. No. These 18 year old gals on here always think that. Wrong, ladies.
Liz: Love. Love. Love. She is great. And reminds me of a friend who I always thought should try out. Love.
Rhianna: Hahahaha, she's cute, I enjoy her. She is inspired by plants and tries to model like them. If that's what it takes, get it, hippie lady. And she reminds me of Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Sara: episode 2, third from last called, eh. Nothing great, but maybe there will be.
Terra: weakest of the two sisters, but I hope she can pick it up a bit!

No Humans Allowed

I have nooo idea when this was made, but Steve Bays and Paul Hawney from Hot Hot Heat made this video, apparently. I don't know how I found it, but here it is.

Yesterday was the best: 5 years, 5 shows, jsdkalsjd.
Love The Basement, and it's the best venue for them.

9.12.10
One of my favorite men in the entire world. Great show, lovies.
